Obstetrics
The heart of Northeast OB/GYN's practice lies in obstetrics. Individualized care is offered to patients around the clock. Patients can reach Dr. Fait 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with any questions or concerns they may have.
Most expectant mothers can anticipate a healthy pregnancy but in some cases a medical condition can put them at a higher risk for complications. Northeast OB/GYN, is continually improving its ability to care for these high-risk pregnancies through additional training and education. Dr. Fait has received awards for his continuing medical education from the American Medical Association and the American College of OB/GYN.
There are various tools that are needed to manage and define problems in pregnancy. To give those that have had prior miscarriages peace of mind, diagnostic testing helps to ensure that the baby's development is progressing as expected. On site ultrasound is often used to follow the pregnancy in ways that normal visits cannot allow.

4-D Ultrasound
Northeast OB/GYN has invested in providing the best for our patients. This includes the most advanced ultrasound technology for both our obstetric and gynecology patients. These services are enhanced by a commitment to maintaining high quality standards and practices, and by participating in quarterly meetings and other educational activities to remain up-to-date on ultrasound technology.
Very few advances in obstetrics are as important as the ability to get an inside look at the developing baby. The use of these images begins early in the pregnancy to determine how the baby is developing as well as obtain an accurate due date. Midway through the pregnancy, the ultrasound allows the physician to scan for most abnormalities and reassure expectant mothers that everything is progressing as it should. The images provided by the ultrasound are one of the first opportunities for the expectant family members to bond with their new addition.
At Northeast OB/GYN, we know your time is important to you. In order to provide convenience and help in your time saving efforts, all ultrasounds can be performed at the patient's normal obstetric visit.
Essure Procedure
When a patient decides that her family is complete, the Essure procedure is a good alternative to the traditional tubal ligation. The Essure procedure is a permanent sterilization procedure that can now be done in the doctor's office. This procedure has been approved by the FDA for many years and requires little to no recovery time for the patient.
The patient is placed under a block anesthesia while the procedure is performed. This allows the patient to watch as the procedure is completed with little discomfort. By using a small telescope (hysteroscope), the Essure coils are placed in the fallopian tubes where they meet the uterus, thus sterilizing the patient. When the procedure is completed the patient is able to return to normal activities generally needing only Advil or Motrin for any discomfort. Three months following the completion of the procedure, a small test is done to confirm that the tubes have been closed.
In addition, the hysteroscopy equipment allows the doctor to check for any anatomic problems within the uterus. Abnormalities in menstrual flow can be caused by polyps or fibroids, which can be seen using the small telescope used in the Essure procedure.
Northeast OB/GYN performs this procedure right in its office. Call to schedule a consultation to see if this procedure is right for you.
Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is the most common bone disorder, affecting 1 out of every 5 women over the age of 50. Caused by a gradual thinning of the bone as a result of inadequate calcium or vitamin D, there are many medical illnesses, medications, or environmental factors that may accelerate this process. As a result, this may lead to fractures especially in the bones of the back, wrist and hip.
Like many other conditions encountered in the aging process, osteoporosis can lead to significant disease, or even death in the injured individual. Studies have indicated that hip fractures have a mortality rate of nearly three times that of breast cancer. In addition, only 40% of those suffering from a fracture regain their previous mobility and only half of those return to normal activities of daily living.
Northeast OB/GYN utilizes the gold standard for testing thickness of the long bones in the body with its onsite bone density machine. The bone density machine uses a small amount of radiation, less than 10% of a dental x-ray, to measure the potential risks of future fractures. The progress of the patient can be monitored after treatment has started to determine its effectiveness.
Gynecology
Today, the practice of gynecology rarely requires surgical intervention. There are many conditions that can now be managed by medical means that previously could only be treated with surgery.
Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology
Northeast OB/GYN has kept up with the changes and advances in pediatric and adolescent gynecological care, and Dr. Fait is one of the few members of the North American Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (NASPAG) in the state. One of the most significant advances in pediatric and adolescent gynecology is the development of the Gardasil vaccine. This three-step vaccine decreases the likelihood of cervical cancer in vaccinated individuals by more than 77%.
Birth Control
New options in birth control have become available as well as effective replacements for previously used practices. The Mirena is a new IUD that gives the patient a birth control option that lasts five years. It also helps to control heavy menstruation. In the past, surgery was often the solution for problematic periods but with the use of Mirena, patients are able to receive treatment without surgery. Traditional birth control methods are also available from Northeast OB/GYN.
Menopause Care
More and more research is being done investigating women’s menopausal years. Women typically spend about 40% of their lifetime in the menopause phase. Menopause affects each woman differently. Because of these varying experiences, individualized menopause treatment is offered to best treat each woman's particular symptoms. In an effort to provide the best care to his patients, Dr. Fait completed training to become a Certified Menopause Practitioner (CMP), one of only a handful in the state.
